Tree work requires more than a chainsaw and a crew. The right approach depends on the tree’s species, structure, condition, and location, along with the property surrounding it.
Davis & Davis Tree Care is a locally owned, family-operated tree company based in Sandy, Utah. Owner/operator Karsten Davis brings more than 20 years of experience, advanced climbing ability, wildland firefighter experience, and equipment for trees of nearly any size. We also have ISA Certified Arborist Michael Shine on staff, rounding out our expertise in Utah tree care.
We provide professional tree trimming and pruning, tree removal, emergency tree services, stump grinding, and certified arborist care throughout Salt Lake County, Utah County, and Davis County. Whether you want to preserve a mature tree or remove one that has become a concern, we will help you understand the right path forward.
Every tree and every property are different.
A mature tree may need selective pruning to remove deadwood, improve clearance, or support a stronger structure. Another may be declining, storm-damaged, or unstable enough that removal is the safer choice.
The goal should not be to cut as much as possible. It should be to determine what work best supports the health of the tree, the safety of the property, and the priorities of the owner.
Karsten evaluates the visible condition and structure of the tree before recommending a course of action. When pruning can reasonably address the concern, we explain why. When removal is the more responsible decision, we explain the factors behind that recommendation.
You should understand not only what work is being proposed, but why it makes sense for your property.
Davis & Davis Tree Care was established in January 2023, but the experience behind the company spans more than two decades.
Owner/operator Karsten Davis has over 20 years of hands-on experience caring for, climbing, pruning, and removing trees. He is a highly experienced tree climber and a wildland firefighter.
Each part of that background contributes to the work. His certification supports informed decisions about tree structure, pruning, preservation, and removal. His climbing experience helps on mature trees and confined properties. His wildland firefighting background adds practical experience with hazards, changing conditions, and trees under environmental stress.
Karsten remains directly involved in the work Davis & Davis Tree Care performs. Customers are not simply receiving an estimate from one person and an unrelated crew from another part of the company.
That owner-led approach creates greater accountability from the initial recommendation through completion and cleanup.
Davis & Davis Tree Care is based in Sandy and provides mobile tree-care services throughout three Wasatch Front counties. Our residential location is not open to the public; we come directly to your property to evaluate and complete the work.
We serve Sandy, Draper, South Jordan, West Jordan, Salt Lake City, and nearby communities. Mature trees, established landscaping, and limited access often require careful planning in the Salt Lake Valley.
Our Utah County service area includes Lehi, American Fork, Orem, Provo, Saratoga Springs, and nearby communities. We serve established properties and newer developments where fast-growing trees may create spacing or clearance concerns.
We serve Bountiful, Farmington, Kaysville, Layton, Syracuse, and nearby communities. Mature neighborhoods, bench areas, wind exposure, and large established trees can create specialized needs.
Trees along the Wasatch Front face conditions that directly affect how they should be evaluated and maintained.
Heavy, wet snow can load broad limbs and weak branch unions. Canyon winds and strong storms can expose structural weaknesses. Summer heat, drought stress, and inconsistent watering can also affect both new and mature trees.
Many established neighborhoods in Salt Lake and Davis counties contain large trees close to homes, fences, utilities, and neighboring properties. In rapidly growing parts of Utah County, fast-growing trees may begin creating spacing, clearance, or structural concerns sooner than homeowners expect.
Common concerns include snow-damaged limbs, deadwood above roofs and driveways, limited backyard access, wind exposure near benches and canyons, and trees planted without enough room to mature. Foothill properties may also require closer attention to dead or hazardous vegetation.
These conditions do not mean every tree needs aggressive trimming or removal. They make thoughtful evaluation more important. The work should respond to the actual tree and site, not a generic maintenance schedule.
Large equipment is valuable only when it is paired with the experience to choose the right method.
Karsten’s climbing ability allows Davis & Davis Tree Care to work within tree canopies, access difficult limbs, and dismantle trees in sections when the surrounding property leaves little room for error.
For larger projects, our capabilities include professional climbing and rigging systems, cranes when appropriate, chippers, stump grinders, and equipment suited to substantial removals.
Some trees are best handled by climbing and lowering individual sections. Others may be completed more safely or efficiently with crane assistance. The right approach depends on tree stability, access, structures, drop zones, and ground conditions.
We plan the work around the property rather than forcing every tree into the same process.
From the first call through final cleanup, Davis & Davis Tree Care keeps the process clear and straightforward. We take time to understand the tree, evaluate the property, explain the recommended work, and plan the job around the conditions at your home.
Call, text, or submit an estimate request. Tell us what you are seeing and where the tree is located.
We consider the tree’s visible condition along with access, buildings, fences, landscaping, and available work space.
We explain the recommended work and its purpose. When more than one reasonable option exists, we discuss the differences.
The climbing method, equipment, removal sequence, and cleanup are matched to the site. We complete the agreed-upon work and leave the property orderly.
Davis & Davis Tree Care is proud to have ISA Certified Arborist Michael Shine on staff, ensuring every project is guided by expert knowledge and industry‑approved best practices. Michael’s certification reflects rigorous training in tree biology, safety, and proper care techniques, giving homeowners confidence that their trees are evaluated and serviced with precision, professionalism, and long‑term health in mind.
The answer depends on the tree’s condition, structure, location, and the problem you are trying to solve. We consider whether appropriate pruning can reasonably address the concern before recommending removal.
